The Unofficial Alpine Meadows Ski Report
Produced by Andy Wertheim
Hello skiers and riders,
We received another dusting of snow late Friday afternoon that seemed to pile up in the low spots on the mountain to a depth of 4 or 5 inches making it feel like a “light powder” day. In many spots the snow underneath was crunchy, but not hard as a rock. Of course, the groomed runs were fast and fun. I did not have much of a chance to ski this morning, but it was pleasant making a few runs in North Peril and under the Alpine Bowl Chair. The sky was clear with just a few puffy clouds hanging around. I took a couple of pictures from Terry’s Return looking back at Lower Saddle and Keyhole slope that are attached. In the afternoon I took a walk along the Truckee River and was passed by a few overdressed folks on bicycles The bike path that was covered with snow a couple of days ago is bare again.
What goes well with a great day of skiing? A good meal, of course. Last night we had dinner at Za’s in Tahoe City. Johnny, the owner and chef, who started Za’s many years ago has returned after a number of years away from Tahoe. The restaurant has gone through other owners who have come and gone. Za’s is located in Tahoe City on the Golf Course side of Hwy. 28 behind Pete and Peter’s. The menu is priced for a family to enjoy a meal and includes pizza and pasta. We savored the homemade bread, a green salad, and Chicken Marsala that was to die for.. It was one of the better meals we have had lately. Za’s is cozy and small, so it may get crowded. Lunch is just as good.
Enjoy your day,
Andy Wertheim
